WELCOME TO ELSENHAM CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL
Everyone is someone in our church school community,
Becoming learners for life,
Ready to make a difference.
'so encourage each other and build each other up'
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Supported by our core Christian Values- Love, Hope, Faith, Wisdom, Kindness
At Elsenham, we believe that everybody is somebody. We are proud to be a happy, welcoming and ambitious school where children are known as individuals, staff are passionate about what they do and our whole community works together to help every child flourish.
As Headteacher, I feel incredibly privileged to lead Elsenham and to work alongside a dedicated team who put children at the heart of every decision we make. Our aim is simple: we want every child to enjoy coming to school, feel safe and valued, achieve highly and leave us with the confidence, character and skills they need for the next stage of their lives.
We are extremely proud of our school and the recognition it has received. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in November 2024 highlighted the many strengths of Elsenham and the quality of education and experiences we provide for our children. As a school, however, we are always looking forward. We want to build upon everything that is already special about Elsenham while continuing to develop, improve and provide even greater opportunities for our pupils.
As a Church of England school, our Christian character is central to who we are. Our SIAMS inspection in 2025 judged the school to be Outstanding. Our values of Love, Hope, Wisdom, Faith and Kindness can be seen throughout school life and help create a caring, inclusive community in which everyone is encouraged to flourish. We want our children to recognise that they have the potential to make a difference to the world around them and to the lives of others, however big or small that difference might be.
Our vision is for everyone to flourish within an inclusive community where each person's uniqueness is recognised and valued. We have high expectations for our children, both personally and academically, and provide a rich learning journey which develops knowledge, curiosity, resilience and independence. We are committed to high-quality teaching and learning and are proud that our pupils achieve strongly, including outcomes above national standards in reading, writing and mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2 and in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.
Of course, life at Elsenham is about far more than academic results. We want children to discover what they enjoy, develop their talents and become confident, thoughtful and resilient young people. Pupil voice is an important part of school life and we encourage our children to be active participants and changemakers within their community. Through sport, music, drama, performances, clubs, trips and wider enrichment opportunities, we aim to give every child experiences and memories that extend well beyond the classroom.
We are fortunate to be situated at the heart of the growing village of Elsenham and greatly value our relationship with the local community and church. Our school combines its traditional Victorian frontage with a modern extension providing large, bright classrooms and excellent facilities, including a food technology room, studio, library and sensory room. Outside, children benefit from a range of learning and play spaces.
We also offer an extensive programme of clubs and activities alongside wraparound provision. Breakfast club and after-school childcare are available on site through Butterflies, helping us to support children and families beyond the school day.
Most importantly, Elsenham is a school full of wonderful children and people. We are proud of what has already been achieved and excited about what comes next as we continue to strengthen our school while retaining the character, relationships and sense of community that make Elsenham such a special place.
The best way to understand our school is to come and experience it for yourself. Prospective parents and families are always very welcome to visit, meet us and see the school in action. Please contact the school office to arrange a tour and a conversation with the Headteacher.
Welcome to Elsenham C. of E. Primary School.
