Music plays an important part in the life of our school. Each class has regular music lessons in which the skills needed to make music are taught such as listening, participating and performing, with plenty of opportunities to link these skills to other curriculum areas. There are also opportunities to enrich our special occasions with music such as at the Infant Nativity play at Christmas and at the Junior production at the end of the summer term.
Children in Year 4 learn to play the recorders as part of their curriculum time. We also have peripatetic music lessons on offer for which there is a small charge for parents. We currently offer recorder, guitar, piano, saxophone, clarinet and flute lessons. Our school choir is open to children throughout Key Stage 2 and they enjoyed performing with other local schools in a Christmas music Concert. All of the children who are learning to play a musical instrument are invited to perform in our annual musical concert.
