History

Our intent is to inspire children’s curiosity as historians.

We provide a broad and ambitious history curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge, which immerses children in a range of cultures and engenders enquiry. We aim for pupils to develop an appreciation and understanding of the past, both locally and globally, so that they can make meaningful links to the present day.

Our History Leaders in Learning Noah and Ella delivered a fantastic session to a group of Year 3 pupils about Ancient Egypt. They started by sharing some background information, such as where Egypt is on a map, the time period in relation to the Stone Age (Year 3 know all about the Stone Age!) and why Pharaohs were important. They then shared images and facts about the pyramids before challenging the children to build their own giant pyramid using cardboard.

Here is what the pupils thought:

Margot “I loved making the pyramid because it was so fun and I even fitted inside it”

Ashley “It was a challenge to build a pyramid and we needed teamwork”

Darcy “I didn’t love history before…but now it’s my favourite!”

Emilia “I have learnt that pyramids were built by Egyptians”

Well done Ella and Noah, you have certainly inspired pupils in our school.
