Music plays an important part in the life of our school. Each class have regular music lessons in which the skills needed to make music are taught, such as listening, participating and performing. There are plenty of opportunities to link these skills to other curriculum areas. There are also opportunities to enrich our special occasions with music such as at the Early Years nativity play at Christmas, the Lower Key Stage 2 Easter production and the Upper Key Stage Two production at the end of the summer term.
Children in Year 4 learn to play the recorders as part of their curriculum time. We also have peripatetic music lessons on offer for which there is a small charge for parents. We currently offer piano, guitar and wind lessons. All of the children who are learning to play a musical instrument are invited to perform in our annual musical concert.
